Volleyball Earns Second NCAA Berth in Program History

The Panthers have now garnered back-to-back NCAA invitations.

Garden City, N.Y. - The NCAA named University of New Haven and Charger Gymnasium as the host of the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball East Regional Championship as announced on Sunday, November 16. The Adelphi University volleyball earned the seventh seed while the host Chargers earned the top seed in the eight team tournament which starts on Thursday, November 20. The remaining teams that earned NCAA berths in the East are (2) Dowling, (3) Bentley, (4) Georgian Court, (5) Merrimack, (6) Bridgeport and (8) Queens (N.Y.).

The eight teams will compete for a spot in the NCAA Division II final eight which takes place on December 4-6. (7) Adelphi will open play against (7) Dowling at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20.

Tickets will be sold in four different sessions. Thursday, November 20 will consist of two sessions. The first session will be the 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal matches. The second session will consist of matches taking place at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two semi-final matches scheduled for Friday, November 21 will make up one session as will the championship match on Saturday, November 22. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for students/senior citizens and $2 for children under 12 years old. All tickets will be sold at the gate.
