Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi women's volleyball team fell to the University of West Alabama this afternoon 3-1. The match took place in Pensacola, Florida at the University of West Florida, where the Panthers are currently competing in Argonaut Invitational.

The Panthers lost the first and second games, 30-26 and 30-20. But Adelphi came back to take the third game from the Tigers 30-25, before losing the fourth game and the match, 30-12.

Freshman Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) led the Panthers with 10 kills, while sophomore Deanna Maggio (Island Park, N.Y.) and freshman Meaghan Joyce (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded six kills apiece. Maggio paced Adelphi with a total of 21 digs, and Joyce totaled 16 digs on the afternoon. Freshman Julie Roke (Chesire, Conn.) led the team in service aces with a total of three.

With the win the West Alabama improved to 4-2 on the year while Adelphi falls to 0-1. Adelphi will take on Eckerd College today at 4 pm.
