Oakdale, New York - Adelphi volleyball traveled to Oakdale, New York today to close out the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational with a matchup against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State in their first-ever meeting. The Panthers dropped the first set 19-25, came back to take the next set 25-15, but then fell in the next two. Northwest Missouri advances to 3-8 on the season while Adelphi drops to 8-4, 1-1 ECC. In the first set, Adelphi registered 12 kills compared to Northwest Missouri's 10, but it proved to be the 11 errors they committed that allowed the Bearcats to come out on top. The Panthers came together in the second set by hitting .395, registering 17 kills and two errors to take the set by 10 points. The Bearcats began to rally in the third set despite a bold Panther effort and pulled ahead late and won 25-23. Behind the strength of Sara Falcone's 12 kills and Ryan Amber's 13 kills, the Bearcats prevailed in the fourth and final set with a score of 25-16 to win the match. The Panthers were lead by sophomore Hilary Pavels who posted a game high 18 kills while senior Samantha Johnston and junior Amy Williams had 16 and 22 digs a piece. Sophomore setter, Heather Mau had a game high of 46 assists. The Panthers will travel to Pace University to take on the Setters in a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. |
