Adelphi falls to Southern Arkansas at Argonaut Invitational

Pensacola, Florida - On the second day of the Argonaut Invitational the Panthers lost to Southern Arkansas University 3-0. With the win Southern Arkansas moves 7-2 overall while Adelphi drops to 0-3. The Invitational is being held in Pensacola, Florida, on the campus of the University of West Florida.

Adelphi kept it close in the first game, falling by a score of 30-21. The Panthers fought hard the next two games but fell by scores of 30-14 and 30-13 respectively. Freshman Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) led the Panthers with seven kills, fellow freshman Julie Roke (Chesire, Conn.) was a close second with four kills. Junior Sharon Ribera (Hollis Hills, N.Y.) came up with seven digs, while Cornick and Roke came up with six each. Roke and freshman Kelly Campbell (Hicksville, N.Y.) both contributed two service aces.

Adelphi returns to action on September 12th and 13th when they travel to Kutztown, PA to compete in the Kutztown University Challenge. The Panthers return to Garden City for their home opener on the 16th, when they will take on Concordia College in Woodruff Hall at 7 pm.
