Coach Chojnacki says: "Joann digs the hard driven ball as well as anyone on the team. If it's anywhere in her `wheelhouse', she's going to pop it up. For someone that tried out as a walk-on three years ago, she's been a great member of this team."

Honors & Awards: NYCAC All-Academic Team (2003, 2004, 2005)

2005: Appeared in 25 matches, playing 60 games...collected 161 digs, nine service aces, four assists and two kills...picked up a career-high 21 digs against Nyack (10/8). 2004: Saw action in 24 matches, playing in 49 games...had a career high six attempts vs. NYIT (9/11).

2003: Appeared in 24 matches, playing in 58 games...had a career best three kills at Southampton (9/29) and nine digs vs. Bentley (10/4).

At Christ the King High School: Played four years varsity volleyball...a member of the tri-county club...also lettered four years in softball at third base...volleyball team captain as a senior...helped team to two state championships...received Diane Brennan Award for Outstanding Athlete...Honor Roll for four years.

Personal: Daughter of Barbara and Michael Abruzzo...majoring in exercise science.
