Sept. 26, 2005 Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi women's tennis started the week off with a 7-2 loss to host Queens College, but quickly recovered to rout St. Thomas Aquinas College 9-0. With the split the Panthers improve to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Queens swept the doubles matches, dropping just five sets in three games. Adelphi showed life as Claudia Nunez (Aventura, FL) won her top flight singles match, but the only other Panther win came from Claudette Frysztacki (Wantagh, N.Y.). The Panthers turned it around when they traveled to Sparkill, New York to take on St. Thomas Aquinas. Adelphi dropped just five sets in sweeping the doubles matches and were equally as impressive in winning all six singles matches. In six matches the Panthers lost just 10 games. Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 24 when they travel to Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional. |
