Garden City, NY - Three years ago the Adelphi men's and women's tennis squads gave up their home court advantage for the construction of the new Center for Sports and Recreation and renovation of Historic Woodruff Hall. On Tuesday, September 23, the Panthers get their home courts back when they host the Queens College Knights. For the past three years the Panthers have met the challenges of competing at the varsity level, while also managing the adversity of traveling off campus for not only away and home matches, but for regular practices too. "Both teams are ecstatic about the return back to Adelphi," Head Coach Ed Canner stated. "We have been waiting patiently for the past few years, and the reward is these beautiful courts to call home. The commute to practice and play has been tough, but Adelphi tennis is privileged to be apart of the campus once again." Now located adjacent to the Brown and Gold's practice field, the new tennis facility features four courts finished with Deco Turf, a state-of-the-art tennis surface.
"The new courts bring a feeling of togetherness to the department, and we're excited to continue the season on site," Canner added. Be sure to come support your Adelphi Women's tennis team as the take on East Coast Conference rivals, Queens College. First serve is at 3:00 p.m. |
