Flushing, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team completed its most successful team finish in school history with three first place finishes at the NYCAC Individual Championships held at Flushing, N.Y. Rosi Bantovska, named NYCAC Rookie of the Year, was second in the No.1 singles and joined Tashi Sharma to take first in the No.1 doubles match. Sharma was also victorious in the No. 2 singles, defeating Dowling's Stacey Kempster, 6-2, 6-1 in the final match. This is Sharma's third NYCAC title, in 2000 and 2001 she won back-to-back No. 3 singles titles. Rebecca Gnessin took home a singles trophy as well, winning the No. 5 match. Gnessin defeated Molloy's Barbara Manzi, 6-2,6-0 and Philadelphia's Maura Jeflinski to advance to the final round. She defeated Erin Maragoudakis of Queens in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Bantovska defeated Eloise Latcher of C.W. Post, 6-1, 6-2, and Allison Hammond of Queens College, 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the final round against Concordia's Kylene Wong. Bantovska lost to Wong in straight sets to finish second overall.
