Flushing, N.Y. - The Adelphi women's tennis team had three players advance to the finals of their respective flights in the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) flight championships. Unfortunately all three players fell in the finals as host Queens College won eight of nine possible flight titles.

Sophomore Claudia Nunez (Aventura, FL) capped off an outstanding season by advancing to the finals of the number one singles bracket with straight set wins over Caroline Gizzi of St. Thomas Aquinas (6-0, 6-1) and Lenka Hladikova of Concordia (6-2, 6-0). In the final top seeded Nunez faced second seeded Dominika Bajuk of Queens, falling 6-4, 6-3.

Claudette Frysztacki (Wantagh, N.Y.) also played well, advancing to the finals of the number three singles bracket with wins over Patty Garay of Concordia (6-2, 6-0) and Nicole Occhipinti of C.W. Post (6-0, 6-0). Second seeded Frysztacki faced top seeded Alyssa Morra of Queens in the final, falling 6-2, 6-0.

The only other Panther to advance to the finals was Leah Moore, who moved to the second round by default and then topped Alexis Kramer of C.W. Post 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the finals of the number six singles bracket. The unseeded Moore played Lavina Voicu of Queens in the final, playing tough but falling 6-3, 6-4.

All three Adelphi doubles teams advanced to the semifinals before falling. The Panthers strong showing at the Flight Championships caps a season that saw Adelphi advance to the final of the NYCAC Team Championships.
