Flushing, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team defeated Dowling College, 5-4, yesterday at Queens College to advance to the finals of the NYCAC Team Championships. The Panthers will face No.1 seed Queens College this afternoon at Flushing, N.Y.

No. 2 seed Adelphi originally faced No. 3 Dowling on Wednesday but with the Panthers leading, 4-3, the game was called due to darkness. The teams met again yesterday at Queens College to complete the remaining matches. Rebecca Gnessin won the No.5 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to seal the Panther victory.

By advancing to the finals, Adelphi earns an automatic bid to the Northeast Regionals, its first in recent history, which will take place in Spring 2003.
