Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi women's tennis team (1-2-1) won all nine matches as they cruised to its first win of the season, defeating St. Thoams University Tuesday afternoon, 9-0. The win snapped a two-match losing streak by the Panthers. The dominant performance was led by Claudia Nunez at first singles (6-1,6-0). She was one of six Panthers to win in singles: Leigh Fennessey, Rebecca Gnessin, Janine Canale, Melissa Pashayan and Geisha Rodrigez also recorded victories. Nunez and Fennessey teamed up to win at first doubles (8-3) while Gnessin and Melissa Kutner recorded a 8-4 win at number two doubles. The Panthers will host Molloy University on Thursday, September 23 at 4 p.m. |
