Sept. 6, 2007 Lakewood, NJ - Adelphi women's tennis opened the 2007 season on August 30th against Georgian Court, taking one out of three doubles matches and one out of six singles matches. Leading the match off, the Panther's number one double team of Amanda Aniboli (West Islip, NY) and Jamie Sussman (Glastonbury, CT) defeated Georgian Court's Corrine Stinemire and Autumn Florez 8-5. Also seeing victory against the Lions were the duo of Nicole Byrnes (Massapequa, NY) and Megan Margino by a commanding margin of 8-2. The singles saw very tight matches, but proved to be in the Lions favor. However, the Panthers did see victory with Kristina Radeva (Varna, Bulgaria), who defeated Kutarinna Dockum 6-4 / 0-6 / 7-1 in the tie breaking match. Look to see the Panthers at their home opener against Philadelphia University on September, 1st. Please note that all home games will be played in Hempstead, NY at Hempstead Lake State Park. |
