Hempstead, NY - Traveling cross-town to Hempstead Lake State Park in Hempstead, New York, the Panthers continue their success on the court with a 7-2 win over the Georgian Court Lions. The Panthers dropped a match in both singles and doubles, but still remain perfect at 2-0 overall and 0-0 in East Coast play. Alda Ribeiro and Carolyn Smith stayed strong up front, winning singles spots one and two respectfully. Megan Margino put her season record to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Katarina Dockum in the forth spot. Nicole Byrnes fought for a win in the fifth position, winning the opening set tie-breaker 7-6 (2-1) and closed the second set 6-3 against Jennifer Miller. Adelphi stayed strong in doubles, taking two out of three matches. Riberio teamed up with Margino for a 8-2 win over Brittany Aimore and Caitlyn Lawrence, while Tricia Burns and Nicole Byrnes remained together for a 8-2 win over Jennifer Miller and Daisy Prendergast. The Panthers will return to the court when they open up their East Coast Conference play against Long Island rivals Dowling College on Friday, September 12. First serve is at 3:30 p.m. |
