Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University was named to the girls got game Top Ten All-Academic Team as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, based on GPAs submitted for the 2008-09 school year. Through this program, the NFCA honors high school and collegiate softball teams for their success in the classroom. 



The Panthers came in tenth with a 3.414 combined GPA. This marks the eighth time in nine seasons that the Panthers have been named. This is the highest placing and highest GPA since the 2004 season when the Panthers ranked fourth with a 3.460 average.

In addition, ten members of the team, Maria Canino, Rochelle Noren, Kristin Brennan, Diana DiPiano, Danielle Lyons, Christina O'Hara, Marisa Romeo, Ashley Vinti, Jessica Vogt and Samantha Johnston, were each named NFCA Scholar Athletes. Athletes must maintain a 3.5 or better GPA to qualify.
