Garden City, N.Y. - The accolades continue for senior outfielder Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) who was selected to the 2009 Daktonic, Inc. All-America second-team as voted on by sports information directors in NCAA Division II. Johnston, the East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Year, was the only player from a member institution to be selected. She posted a team-leading .443 batting average for Adelphi (32-14). She also led the Panthers in at-bats (158), runs scored (38), hits (70) and triples (5). Already this season she has been selected as a NFCA First-Team All-Region selection as well as a Daktronics, Inc. First-Team All-Region pick and a CoSida Academic All-District honoree. Two record-setting players representing the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference garnered the top honors, as Lock Haven pitcher Kristen Erb landed the "Pitcher of the Year" award for the third consecutive season and Kutztown first baseman Steph Denlinger was chosen as the national "Player of the Year" The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). |
