May 8, 2006 Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team earned the No.2 seed in the NCAA Northeast Regionals to take place May 11-14 at Bryant College. The eight teams selected will compete in a double elimination tournament with the winner advancing to the finals to be held May 18-22, at the James I. Moyer Softball Complex in Salem, Virginia. NYCAC Champs, C.W. Post (42-10) earned the top seed with Queens College (27-20) ranked sixth to bring the NYCAC total to three teams. Adelphi (31-16) will face No.7-seed LeMoyne College in the first round on Thursday, May 11. The winner of that game will face the winner of the #3 Bryant (29-16) vs. #6 Queens contest. The Panthers are 0-1 in their only meeting against the Dolphins which occured in the 2003 NCAA Northeast Regionals. The Panthers rallied back to advance to the finals of the tournament before falling to C.W. Post, 4-1. This is Adelphi's third NCAA Division II tournament appearance and its first since 2003.
