Brookville, N.Y. - The No.8 ranked Adelphi University softball team fell to No.16 C.W. Post, 3-1, in game eight of the ECC Softball Tournament. The Panthers (38-10) will take on Dowling College (33-16) tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the winner advancing to face the Pioneers (41-13) at 12 noon. All of C.W. Post's runs came by way of home runs. Senior Jill Fisher hit a long shot to right field in the top of the first inning. Junior Samantha Yodowitz two-run effort came in the fourth inning and also scored sophomore Ashley Marchese who was on second base pinch running for sophomore third baseman Shannon Kulnis. Kulnis reached base on a single to left. Adelphi's lone run came in the bottom of the first when sophomore Diana DiPiano doubled to right center to score sophomore Samantha Johnston from second base. Junior Julie Schaper took the loss for the Panthers after allowing three earned runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Yodowitz completed the seven-inning game allowing one earned run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Dowling advanced to tomorrow's game versus Adelphi after defeating NYIT, 7-2 and New Haven, 2-1. Prior to the start of the game, the ECC recognized its all-conference selections. Schaper, DiPiano and Johnston were each named to the first-team. Senior Alana daSilva and sophomores Kristin Brennan and Jessica Vogt were named second-team picks. Courtesy C.W.
