Philadelphia, PA - The Adelphi University softball team swept Philadelphia University, 5-0 and 9-0, in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 22. The Panthers improve to 28-8, while the Lady Rams 9-24.

Sophomore Kristin Brennan went 3-for-7 with four RBI and two runs in the doubleheader. Sophomore Samantha Johnston was also 3-of-7 with three runs and three RBI.

Game One
The Panthers took advantage of two Lady Rams errors in the second inning, allowing junior Julie Schaper to get on base and eventually score. Freshman Katie Brophy also reached on an error before scoring on a passed ball. Johnston made it 3-0 in the third as she singled, then stole second before crossing the plate on a Schaper fly out to rightfield. Johnston followed up with a triple in the fourth, which brought home junior Dely Francisco and sophomore Angela Martin.

Schaper recorded the win, allowing three hits, no runs and no walks while fanning 13.

Adelphi had five runs on five hits with three errors. Philadelphia had no runs on three hits with four errors.

Game Two
Brennan drove in Johnston in the first, who later scored on a single from sophomore Jessica Vogt. Sophomore Diana DiPiano, who was 3-for-4 in the game, drove in Brennan for the final run of the inning to put Adelphi up 3-0. Brennan's double in the fourth inning brought in three runs with DiPiano accounting for the final RBI to make it a 7-0 contest. The Panthers added two more runs in the fifth inning.

Senior Sheila Feldman gave up just three hits on the mound, striking out six and walking one.

Adelphi had nine runs on eight hits with one error. Philadelphia had no runs on three hits with four errors.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 24, as they travel to the University of Bridgeport for a conference doubleheader scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
