Game One|Game Two

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Junior Julie Schaper combined for 6-of-8 with two doubles, five RBI and five runs from the plate and collected the win on the mound in game two to lead the #25 Adelphi University softball team to a 6-3 and 12-1 sweep over Molloy College. The Panthers improve to 26-8 and 14-2 in the ECC. The Lions fall to 20-14 and 9-7.

Sophomore Jessica Vogt and Samantha Johnston each hit .500 on the day. Vogt went 4-for-8 with a double, a homerun and five RBI. Johnston was 3-for-6 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Game One
Adelphi picked up two runs in the first inning with sophomore Diana DiPiano and Schaper each credited with a RBI. In the third inning, DiPiano and Schaper both scored on a three-run blast by Vogt to push the Panther lead to 5-0. The Lions rallied in the fourth as Florence Williams homered to drive in three runs. Vinti's single in the sixth set up the final run for Adelphi as she advanced on a passed ball then to third on a fielder's choice before crossing on on a sacrifice fly by Johnston.

Freshman Christine Robinson was credited with the win, pitching three innings for six hits, three runs, three earned while striking out four. Senior Sheila Feldman allowed one hit in four innings on the mound, walking two and striking out four.

Game Two
Johnston doubled on her first hit, followed by Brennan who reached on a throwing error. Schaper's single led to a second Molloy error, which allowed both Johnston and Brennan to score. Then Vogt's single to right drove in Schaper to give the Panthers an early 3-0 lead in the first. Adelphi rattled off nine unanswered runs over the next five innnigs as its lead ballooned to 12. Molloy got on board in the fifth inning as Erin Rut's single to left field drove in pinch runner Shannon Skeggs.

Schaper allowed five hits, one run, one earned while fanning seven and walking two.

Adelphi had 12 runs on 11 hits with no errors. Molloy had one run on five hits with six errors.

The Panthers are back in action on Sunday, April 22, as they travel to Philadelphia University for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
