Kissimee, FL. - The Adelphi University softball team topped UMass-Lowell, 9-0, followed up by a 7-0 win over the University of New Haven on Sunday afternoon at the Rebel Games to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Panthers were led offensively by senior Samantha Johnston, who went 7-for-9, hitting .778 with five runs scored and two RBI and two stolen bases. Senior Jessica Vogt hit .444, including a double and a homerun, along with six RBI and three runs scored. Game One Sophomore Marissa Romeo recorded the win in the six-hitter, walking three and striking out one. Adelphi had nine runs on 17 hits with no errors. UMass-Lowell had no runs on six hits with three errors. Game Two Junior Christine Robinson was on the mound for the Panthers, walking one and striking out five of 27 batters faced. Adelphi had seven runs on nine hits with no errors. New Haven had no runs on seven hits with five errors. The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, March 17, when they take on Minnesota State-Moorhead and Southwest Minnesota State. |
