UMass-Lowell Box Score|New Haven Box Score

Kissimee, FL. - The Adelphi University softball team topped UMass-Lowell, 9-0, followed up by a 7-0 win over the University of New Haven on Sunday afternoon at the Rebel Games to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Panthers were led offensively by senior Samantha Johnston, who went 7-for-9, hitting .778 with five runs scored and two RBI and two stolen bases. Senior Jessica Vogt hit .444, including a double and a homerun, along with six RBI and three runs scored.

Game One
Johnston put the Panthers up in the first inning as she scored on a error by the UMass catcher, followed by a Katie Brophy RBI single to score junior Rochelle Noren. Vogt blasted a three-run homer in the second inning to push the Adelphi lead to 5-0, but the Panthers were not done. Brophy and senior Diana DiPiano accounted for the final two runs of the inning to push the lead to 7-0. Adelphi added two more runs in the 4th and 6th innings to cruise to a 9-0 win.

Sophomore Marissa Romeo recorded the win in the six-hitter, walking three and striking out one.

Adelphi had nine runs on 17 hits with no errors. UMass-Lowell had no runs on six hits with three errors.

Game Two
In the first inning, Johnston again scored the first run for the Panthers as Vogt reached on an error to help her home. Assisted by two more Charger errors in the 3rd inning, Johnston again scored. Then, DiPiano's RBI single drove in Vogt to push the lead to 4-0. Three more runs followed in the remaining innings, including a RBI single by senior Christina O'Hara in the fifth to score DiPiano.

Junior Christine Robinson was on the mound for the Panthers, walking one and striking out five of 27 batters faced.

Adelphi had seven runs on nine hits with no errors. New Haven had no runs on seven hits with five errors.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, March 17, when they take on Minnesota State-Moorhead and Southwest Minnesota State.
