Zydor, who replaces former assistant Scott McLaughlin, joins the Panthers after leading the NYIT women's soccer program for the past eight seasons.

Zydor brings over 25 years of coaching experience, including nine at the collegiate level. He took over the helm at NYIT in the summer of 2000. In 2003, the Lady Bears recorded a 10-7-2 mark, the best in the program's history. During his tenure at NYIT, he posted a 54-79-5 overall record.

"We are extremely pleased to have Joe on our staff," Ilsley said. "He has a wealth of experience and is a welcome addition to our program.

Both coaches maintain a long-standing relationship with Ilsley actually coaching Zydor when he was a student at Hewlett High School.

He left Lawrence in 1989 and moved to Malverne High School where he became the head coach of the girls' varsity soccer team as well as the boys and girls junior varsity basketball teams. He held those positions until 1992.

Zydor has been a head coach and clinic instructor for player development with the Hewlett-Lawrence Soccer Club since 1975 and a Long Island Junior Soccer League Select (LIJSLS) head coach since 1998.
