Josephine Coiro begins her second year as an assistant coach for the Adelphi Women's Soccer Team. One of the most prolific players to wear an Adelphi uniform, Coiro is the career leader in both points (182) and goals (77) for the Panthers and is second in career assists (28). She also led the team in single season points and goals in each of her four years at Adelphi. A two-time All-American, three-time All-Northeast Region selection and four-time all-conference selection, Corio was named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Year and Tournament MVP in 2004. That same year she led the Panthers to the NCAA Championships for only the second time in school history. Coiro scored a total of 14 points in the tournament, including both goals against Metro State in the finals and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Coiro was twice named the Adelphi Female Athlete of the Year and team MVP. She also earned academic honors, being named a second-team CoSida Academic All-District selection and to the ECC All-Academic Team. A native of West Babylon, Coiro graduated from Adelphi in 2005 with a degree in physical education and health. |
