June 5, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Four members of the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) with All-American honors as announced on May 29. In total 32 athletes were honored for their play in the 2007 season. Leading the way for Adelphi was four-time first-team selection and senior midfielder, Lauren Lopez. She is joined on the first-team by sophomore attack Rachel Ray. Senior defender Lauren Giordano and senior attack Diana Lopez each received second-team honors. Lauren is the only player in Adelphi history to earn four straight first team honors. Diana is a three-time selection, each time named a second-team pick. This is the first IWLCA selection for both Ray and Giordano. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 16, 2007 in King of Prussia, PA. The IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) was founded on the principle of developing among intercollegiate coaches a deep sense of responsibility in teaching, promotion, and maintaining the growth of women's lacrosse in accordance with the highest ideals of fair play. It is a body committed to being an integral part of the growth and direction of our collegiate sport. First Team
