Six members of the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation(IWLCA) All-Region Team as announced yesterday afternoon. The IWLCA honored a total of 64 student-athletes in Division II. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 29.
Seniors Lauren Giordano, Diana Lopez and Lauren Lopez along with sophomore Rachel Ray were each named first-team selections. Senior Allyson Murphy and freshman Allison Tumulty were named to the second team.
This is the first recognition for Giordano and Tumulty, while the Lopez sisters, Ray and Murphy received honors last year. The Panthers finished the season with a 13-2 overall record and a second place finish in the East Coast Conference with a 4-1 record.
The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 16, 2006 in Downingtown, Pa.
