Six members of the National Championship Adelphi University women's lacrosse team were selected to the 2009 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Regional Team as announced this afternoon.
Senior Rachel Ray headlines the stellar group as a four-time selection. This is the second pick for junior goalie Caitlin Fitzpatrick, a second-team pick in 2008. Sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Carter and sophomore attack Michelle Ceraso also are both repeat first-team honorees. Senior defender Emily Simpson and freshman attack Erica Devito make their first appearance.
A total of 64 student-athletes in Division II were selected to one of the All-Regional teams for 2009. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 22. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American banquet on June 13, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
