ON DOMINATING THE GAME FROM THE START:
I think the road getting here was the hardest part. Once we got here and beat Post, it was amazing. As soon as we had the mindset that we could beat them, we thought we could beat anyone. We came out strong and started shooting right away. Our defense was strong all season and again today. With a great offense and defense and a crazy goalie, we just came out ready to go.
Lauren Lopez
All season we mostly relied on our defense. Today, we just wanted the ball to be on the offensive side for the majority of the time. We were very choosey with our shots and that's what got us five goals right away. I think we actually worked the ball around better today than we ever had.
ON BEING A WELL ROUNDED TEAM:
This is the first year where we had a lot of options going to the cage. We had about seven of us. Last year we had four and the year before we had three. That's really what helped us the most on offense. On defense, everyone stepped up all year.
Diana Lopez
ON MOTIVATING HER TEAM:
It is very easy to motivate a motivated team. We talked last night and this morning about how totally capable they are to win a national championship. We talked that everything has worked from end to end. We knew we could be successful it was just a matter of doing it and we did just that.
ON FEEDING THE BALL TO HER SISTER:
I like to feed to my sister. She makes more cuts and gets past her defender [better] than I can. I like it behind the cage. She is honestly the first one I look for. I would feed it to anybody but she always knows what I am going to do. Today was a little different. She fed me twice today.
Coach Jill Lessne-Solomon
ON PAST EXPERIENCES IN NATIONALS:
What I have been saying to them every game is that even if you are down you can still rebuild. I used 2004 as an example of being down and coming back on top. Even if you are down, you can still come back.
ON DEFENDING KATELYN MARTIN:
I picked one of my top defenders. I told her that it was her job and it was do or die. It was one of my seniors that I asked to lay it all on the line for a national championship. I noticed yesterday scouting Westchester that everything kind of flowed through Katelyn and I knew we need to stop that flow and I think we did a good job.
