Ray; Tumulty Earn Lacrosse Weekly Honors

Garden City, N.Y. - Earlier this week senior Rachel Ray and junior Allison Tumulty were each recognized by lacrosse media outlets for their strong play last week.

Performing her usual duties as the catalyst of the No. 1 Adelphi attack, Ray helped the Panthers to a pair of wins, earning Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for Division II.

Ray had a goal and four assists to help Adelphi top previously unbeaten New Haven, then capped her week with a pair of goals and five assists in a win over Franklin Pierce on Sunday. She also had four draw controls and two groundballs against New Haven, has 15 goals and 40 assists for Adelphi (10-0) this spring.

Tumulty was also key to the Panthers success and earned womenslacrosse.com DII Defensive Player of the Week accolades. She picked up three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls in the win over Franklin Pierce after causing four turnovers and picking up two ground balls against New Haven. She also snared a draw control in the win over the Chargers.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, April 11, when they host Stonehill College at 2:00 p.m. In conjunction with the Adelphi's Cans for Cancer program, fans that bring in a bag of recyclable bottles and cans will be admitted into the game at no charge and provided a complimentary lunch.
