Feb. 28, 2007 Harrison, N.Y. - Adelphi University, which won its second NCAA Division II national title in the last three years in 2006, and C.W. Post, a Final Four Team last season, have been selected to share the top spot in the 2007 East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse standings in a vote of league coaches released today. Both the Panthers and Pioneers received 32 points in the poll, with C.W. Post garnering three first place votes and Adelphi receiving two. Philadelphia University took home the other first place vote, and the Lady Rams are ranked third in the ECC poll. C.W. Post senior attacker Shannon Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y.) is the coaches' preseason selection for Player of the Year. Fabian, the 2006 Conference Player of the Year and the IWLCA Offensive Player of the Year in 2006, is a member 2007 Tewaarton Award Foundation Preseason Watch List. Shannon is one of only two Division II players, Adelphi's Lauren Lopez is the other, on the list for college lacrosse's most prestigious award. The coaches recognized 15 players on the 2007 ECC Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team. Joining Fabian on the Preseason All-Conference team at the attack position are: sophomore, Erin Brady (Long Beach, NY) of Molloy, junior Kim DeLorenzo (Valley Cottage, NY) of St. Thomas Aquinas and Adelphi's senior Diana Lopez (Farmingdale, NY) and sophomore Rachel Ray (Rocky Point, NY). In the midfield, Adelphi's seniors Meghan Blume (Bell Air, MD) and Lauren Lopez (Farmingdale, NY), C.W. Post's senior Lauren LoMonaco (Massapequa, NY) and junior Mallory Poole (Corning, NY), along with New Haven sophomore Mallory Ferrandiz (W. Sayville, NY) earned Preseason All-Conference accolades. Four seniors Kristen Godfrey (Floral Park, NY) and Lindsay Goldman (Rocky Point, NY) of C.W. Post , Adelphi's Tara Grodotzke (Rocky Point, NY) and Philadelphia's Carolyn Power (Springfield, PA) make up the Preseason All-ECC Women's Lacrosse defensive corps.
