Garden City, N.Y. - Lacrosse Magazine released its preseason rankings for NCAA Division II women's lacrosse on Tuesday, December 23, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team slotted in at the number three spot. 2008 National Champion West Chester was selected first, while East Coast Conference and cross town rival C.W. Post slipped in at number two, Limestone (four) and Lock Haven (five) round out the top-five.

The Panthers reeled off 16 straight wins in 2008, including capturing the ECC championship with a perfect 6-0 record that featured a 7-4 win at C.W. Post. Adelphi's lone loss came in a rematch with the Pioneers in the National semifinal, 9-4. Overall Adelphi out scored opponents, 291-117 in 2008 and had five IWLCA All-Region honorees and three All-Americans, along with earning academic recognition from the IWLCA and from the NCAA at the Final Four.

Adelphi will open the 2009 season away from campus, taking on Washington & Lee on February 18 in Orlando, Florida and then traveling to Winter Park to take on Rollins on the 20th.
