Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Leigh Fennessey tallied a career-best eight points with six goals and two assists as the #8 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team topped Montclair State University, 22-1, Thursday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 7-1, having won their last four straight games. The Red Hawks drop to 6-6.

Eight different players scored for Adelphi with sophomore Katherine Hock and freshman Liz Patano each collecting four goals. Junior Karen Sulinski dished out a career-best five assists along with one goal.

Adelphi dominated throughout, with Fennessey scoring her first goal just :41 seconds into the contest. Junior Jennifer Garone knocked in two of her three goals in the first half as the Panthers surged to a 15-0 lead at the intermission.

Freshman Dawn Anselmin notched the second of two goals 3:07 into the second on an assist by Fennessey, 17-0. MSU's Jody Gangemi prevented the shutout when she scored the team's only goal 7:13 into the second half. Freshman Mary Cannata capped a 5-0 Panther run with an unassisted goal at 4:09 for the win.

The Panthers offense dominated the field, outshooting the Red Hawks, 38-3. Sophomore goalie Josephine Coiro had two saves. Lisa Smicklo had nine saves for Montclair State.

Adelphi tied a team record of 22 goals in a game, a record originally set on April 10, 2003 against American International College (22-0).

The Panthers return to action this Saturday, April 19, hosting Philadelphia University at 1:00 p.m.
