Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team had three players recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference for their efforts this season. Sophomore forward Julianne Gerbino (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) earned First-Team Honors, sophomore goalkeeper Lucia Vigliotti (Westbury, N.Y.) garnered Second-Team Honors, and freshman defender Danielle Demola (Holtsville, N.Y.) landed a spot on the All-Rookie Team. Gerbino paced the Panthers offensively all season, finishing with 35 points on 16 goals and three assists. The sophomore forward finished among the league leaders in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, and game-winning goals. Vigliotti saw action in 19 of 20 games this season, including 18 starts. She totaled 1,289 minutes in net, posting a 12-6 record. Vigliotti finished the season with a 1.81 goals against average, a .789 save percentage, and recorded five shutouts. The sophomore net-minder was among the league leaders in every statistical category, as well as leading the league in shutouts and shutouts per game. Demola was a mainstay in the Panthers' defense throughout the season, starting in all 20 games. She recorded the game-winning assist in the Panthers' 2-1 victory over #5 UMass Lowell in their regular season finale. Her three defensive saves was good enough for seventh in the conference. The Panthers finished 12-8 overall and 7-3 in the Northeast-10. |
