Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team has been ranked #13 in the country according to the first National Tenpin Coaches Association of the 2008-09 season. The University of Nebraska and the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore top the polls at one and two respectively. The Panthers, who recently joined the Northeast Conference (NEC) and are ranked #3 in the preseason polls, are in just their fourth season as a varsity sport after forming back in 2004.

After garnering a #12 ranking last year, the Panthers are looking to move up as the season progresses. With a good mix of returning veterans and four newcomers, Adelphi will also look to be a top competitor in the NEC. The only two teams ranked ahead of the Panthers in the NEC are Sacred Heart (#5) and reigning national champions, Farleigh Dickinson (#7).

The Panthers kick off their season this weekend at the FDU Invitational which will take place from October, 31 through November 2.
