Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team has been ranked #13 in the country according to the first National Tenpin Coaches Association of the 2009-10 season. The University of Nebraska and Vanderbilt University top the polls at one and two respectively. The Panthers, who joined the Northeast Conference (NEC) in 2008-09, placing third and are in just their fifth season as a varsity sport after forming back in 2004.

With a good mix of returning veterans and several newcomers, including USBC Junior Gold competitor Danielle Merino. Adelphi will also look to be a top competitor in the NEC, one of the premier bowling conferences in the Country. There are five NEC teams ranked in the NTCA Top-20 poll, with FDU ranked Third, Sacred Heart ranked ninth, and Kutztown University ranked 10th and St. Francis College is ranked five spot back of Adelphi in 18th.

Adelphi opens the season on October 24 when they travel to Reading, Pennsylvania to compete in the Kutztown Invitational Dual at 10:30 am.
