Fairfield, CT - The Adelphi University women's bowling team has been ranked #16 in the country according to the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association of the 2008-09 season. Vanderbilt University and Nebraska-Lincoln top the polls at one and two respectively. The Panthers are one of four Northeast Conference teams to be featured on the list of 20. Of the NEC members, Farleigh Dickinson ranks the highest at #4 while Sacred Heart checks in at #9. Kutztown is just out of the top-10 at the #11 spot while the Panthers round out the NEC showing. Vanderbilt University of Nashville, TN held onto its number one position in the National Tenpin Coaches Association February national poll. Vanderbilt (75-17-0 .815) has owned the #1 spot since the beginning of the season. Since the last poll, the Commodores won the Morgan State Invitational in Perry Hall, MD and finished second at the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, AL. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (67-19-0 .779) moved up a spot to second after winning at the Holiday Classic and a runner-up finish at the Morgan State Invitational. Fairleigh Dickinson University of Teaneck, NJ (92-20-0 .821) slipped a spot to third. The Knights won the Capital Classic in Dover, DE and finished second at the Kutztown Invitational in Reading, PA. Two significant tournament finishes moved Delaware State University (99-30-0 .767) up to fourth. The Hornets took home the first place trophy at the Kutztown Invitational and second at the Capitol Classic. Dropping a notch to fifth is the University of Maryland Eastern Shore of Princess Anne, MD (98-32-0, .754). Rounding out the Top Ten are Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, AR (70-24-0 .745), New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NJ (78-30-0 .722), University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO (76-30-0,.717), Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT (63-28-0,.692), and Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, AL (62-26-0 .705).
