Millsboro, DE - The Adelphi Bowling team traveled to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore for the three day Hawk Classic to face a field of 20 schools. While the Panthers out bowled LIU and North Carolina Central University, they saw four losses on the day. In the first match of the tournament, the Panthers took on the Commodores of Vanderbilt University in baker play and fell by 125 pins, 1024-899 for their first loss of the day. Next, Adelphi faced NEC rival, LIU and prevailed by a 272 pin margin, out bowling their conference opponent 815-543. St. Peter's College, in the third match of the day, handed the Panthers their second loss after taking a 79 pin lead, and then staying ahead and winning 852-782. After a 1-2 start halfway through the first half action, Adelphi began their fourth match against North Carolina Central University in which they narrowly won by 59 pins, 774-715, to even their record at two. The final two matches were against Delaware State University and Elizabeth City State University. The Panthers fell 1012-870 and 842-777 respectively to end their day at 2-4 as they sit in 11th place. The tournament will resume on Saturday, November 22 and end on Sunday.
