Wallingford, CT - The Panthers entered day two action of the NEC Tournament looking to draw even in conference play. Adelphi matched up against Saint Peter's, Sacred Heart, and Long Island University. They rounded out the day at 2-1 with a final 3-3 record at the end of the two-day tournament. Saint Peter's was the first to fall against the Panthers, who posted a total pinfall of 1721. In team play four of the five bowlers reached the 200 pin mark led by Kristin Hayes with a team high of 217 while teammate Danielle Merino tallied a score of 205. The result was a superior score over Saint Francis, 985-824. The Panthers were then able to take the Baker portion of the match 736-706. The Panthers then faced a tough Sacred Heart University in the second match. The Pioneers were too much for the Panthers as they took a 1010-843 lead after team play despite losing in Baker play 741-694. The final total pinfall was in favor of Sacred Heart, 1704-1584. Match three featured the Blackbirds of LIU. Merino, along with Jennifer Ferraro, Erika Drake, Gina Lella and Elizabeth Herbert teamed up to knock down 858 total pins compared to the Blackbird's 496, resulting in a rout. The Baker match was decided by a 704-397 score with the Panthers prevailing once again. The final pinfall was 1562-893; a 666 margin which is the largest in team history. The Panthers concluded the day 2-1 and 3-3 on the weekend. The Panthers are now 3-3 in NEC play and in fourth place in the conference with a season record of 6-13. The panthers return to action on Friday, November 21 at the Hawk Classic in Milsboro, Delaware. |
