Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi women's bowling team participated in the ECAC Championships on March 9-11 hosted by New Jersey City University. The Panthers finished the weekend with a record of 4-5 to place fifth out of nine competing schools. The first day of competition was singles action. Lisa Raymond had the best showing, posting a series of 837. However, none of the six Adelphi bowlers advanced to the championship round. The second day started slowly for the Panthers as they fell to Howard University 902-842. Then Adelphi rebounded, defeating Cheyney University before falling to #15 Morgan State University 959-928. The Panthers closed out the day with a, 968-942 victory over #7 Sacred Heart University, posting a 2-2 record after one day of team competition. On the final day of play, Adelphi faced #4 NJCU, falling, 782-740. Adelphi followed the NJCU loss up with a 965-753 defeat to #1 FDU. The Panthers faced St. Peter's in the third game of the day with a berth in the championship bracket at stake. Adelphi dropped a back and fourth match that was decided in the last game, as St. Peter's came out on top, 770-746. Adelphi closed out the tournament by taking out St. Francis and #15 Morgan State to close out day two with a record of 2-3 and an overall record of 4-5. Adelphi University will close out the season when Michelle Montgoris, Dianna Molenko, and Lisa Raymond attend the Northeast Women's Bowling Conference Singles Championships on Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Wallington, NJ. |
