Panthers Split On Day One At ECAC Championship

The Adelphi University bowling team traveled to Howell, New Jersey to compete in the ECAC Women's Bowling Championship and completed the day 2-2.

Match one saw the Panthers face the Hornets of Delaware State University. Spare shooting failed the Panthers and the Hornets jumped out to a early and decisive lead to take a 65-pin victory, 830-765, despite the efforts of Cristina 
Reale (173), Kristin Hayes (165), and Catherine Rawsthorne (160).

Match two saw the Panthers add 912 pins to their total wood as they competed against the blind as Coppin State University withdrew from the tournament. Match three saw the Panthers jump into the win column as they faced the Bears of Morgan State University.

Elizabeth Herbert led the way as she shot a game-high 182 and was assisted by Sarah Rawski (176), Emily Fischer (167), Dianna Molenko (162), and Samantha Morlack on way to the six-pin victory, 830-824. The NEC Terriers of St. Francis College were firing on all cylinders and crushed the Panthers by 181 pins on their way to a 932-751 win. The final match of the day saw the Panthers take on the Trojans of Norfolk State University.

The Panthers finished the day well as Fischer fired a 235 and Rawsthorne added a 222. The Panther effort was also bustled by the effort of Hayes (173), Danielle Locurto (162), and Molenko.

The Panthers completed the day 2-2 and in seventh-place in the field of 11 teams. The team now stands at 74-40 on the season and return to action on Sunday in Baker play.
