Staten Island, N.Y. - The Panthers traveled to Staten Island, New York for a weekend of NEC matches. After splitting the first day 1-1, Adelphi rallied back to win three of their last four to post a 4-2 record over the weekend. The Panthers currently hold a 61-49 record on the season.

In NEC play, a match is determined by the total pinfall of a traditional game and a four game Baker match. The tournament began with a match against St. Francis College. The Panthers trailed the Terriers by 98 pins at the conclusion of the team portion of the match despite a 192 pin effort by Danielle Merino. In Baker play, the Keglers posted games of 209, 180, 210, & 198 for a 797 total pinfall, 142 pins better than their Terrier counterpart's 655 for their first win of the weekend, 1619-1575.

Match two was against a strong Sacred Heart University. Merino paced all competitors with a 191 game; however, they fell behind 845-812 after team play. Despite a 245 game three rally the Panthers were unable to overcome the early Pioneer effort and fell 1610-1568.

The second day of action began with a match against Kutztown University. Despite strong efforts by Dianna Molenko (192) and Cristina Reale (184), the Panthers trailed by 38 pins (873-835) heading into Baker play. It was a see-saw battle as Adelphi's Keglers rallied with a 221 game one to open a 31 pin lead while the Golden Bears cut the lead to 5 pins before going up by 40. The Panthers won game four and won the baker portion 761-757, but fell 1630-1596.

Adelphi rallied the remaining three games. The #2 ranked Knights of Farleigh Dickerson University were the first to fall in the three-game win streak. The Panthers were lead by Molenko (244) and Erika Drake (232) in the 1004-958 victory in team play. In the Baker match, the kegler's 781 total was still nine pins shy of their counterpart's score, but it was enough to hold off the powerhouse by 37 pins, 1785-1748.

The Blackbirds of Long Island University were no match for the efforts of Emily Fischer (202), Gina Lella (187), Jennifer Ferraro (190), Krisitin Hayes (168) and Elizabeth Herbert in traditional play. Baker play proved to be the same outcome as Adelphi furthered their advantage by 173 pins for a 391 pin victory, 1546-1155. The weekend concluded with the Panthers downing St. Peter's College. The Keglers trailed after team play by 53 pins 839-786 despite a 189 effort by Herbert. After the first Baker game, the Panthers still trailed by 19. However, they fired a 220 to take a 61 pin lead. The Peahens were unable to respond and fell by 68 pins, 1577-1509.

The Panthers return to action when they travel to East Brunswick, New Jersey to participate in the ECAC Championships on Friday, March 6.
