Baltimore, MD - The Panthers traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to compete in the Morgan State Invitational on February 14 and 15. On the way to a fourth place finish and a 7-3 record the Panthers faced a number of Northeast Conference (NEC) rivals and nationally ranked opponents. Adelphi's 7-3 weekend leaves the Panthers with an overall record of 57-47 on the season. Day One: Match One saw the Panthers face NEC foe St. Peter'e College. Danielle Merino (206), Danielle Locurto (194), and Krisitin Hayes (189) helped the squad to a 910-772 win. Match two offered another NEC opponent in NTCA #2 ranked FDU. Despite an outstanding 247 effort by Dianna Molenko, the team was unable to overcome a slow start en route to a 966-817 loss. Lincoln University was no match for Adelphi in their third match of the day, a 856-664 win. The effort was spear headed by Cristina Reale (195), Merino (178) and Erika Drake (170). North Carolina Central was unable to counter the efforts of Drake (181), Elizabeth Herbert (180) and Hayes (192) in the fourth match, another Panther win, 856-664. NJCU had a strong tenth frame and outlasted Adelphi in the fifth and final game of the day despite a 189 effort by Hayes in the 896-836 loss. The Panthers completed the first day of action with a 3-2 record and sat in sixth place. Day Two: The second day of play produced a strong Adelphi effort despite a 691-655 opening game loss to NEC rival Sacred Heart. The Panthers bounced back and won their next four matches. The first opponent to fall to Adelphi on day two was St. Paul's college of Virginia. AU out paced SPCVA by 180 pins 797-617. Nationally ranked Elmhurst College battled the Panthers in a see-saw battle with Adelphi holding on for a 727-690 victory. NEC foe St. Francis College battled the Panthers down to the last bowler as Adelphi came away with a tight 692-679 win. Three time CIAA Champion Bowie State University was unable to hold off a strong Adelphi effort that featured a large 177 pin margin, 692-515. The Panthers finished the day 4-1 and completed a 7-3 weekend and in fourth place among Division II and III teams. Adelphi returns to action in the second NEC Spring Shoot Out hosted by St. Francis College Feburary 21-22. Final Results Division II-III 1. U. of Central Missouri |
