Laurel, MD - The Adelphi University bowling team completed play in the two-day Bowie State Invitational on January 27 in Laurel, Maryland. The Panthers posted a record of 5-1 on the second day of action, finishing fifth overall with a two-day record of 8-3. Adelphi dropped 9325 pins, setting a new school record and helping the Panthers to a 44-49 record on the season. The second day started off against Elizabeth City University. The team of Dianna Molenko (237), Michelle Montgoris (224), Heather McGee (224), Danielle Locurto (203), and Kristin Hayes (219) combined for a 1107-774 victory. The total pin fall is the highest single-game score in program history. Match two saw the Panthers take on North Carolina Central University and came down to the last ball. NC Central prevailed by just one pin, 879-880 despite a 202 effort by Molenko. Adelphi took on St. Paul's College in the third game, picking up a, 955-871 win on the strength of strong efforts by Hayes (201), Montgoris (199), and Valerie Passaniti (192). The Panthers reached the century mark for the second time in the tournament as the defeated Norfolk State University 1003-857, in game four. Cristina Reale (211), Jennifer Ferraro (214), Montgoris (202), Hayes (208), and Passaniti (168) all performed well against Norfolk State. Adelphi held on in match five against South Carolina State University, getting 28 pins in the last frame from McGee to collect a, 823-817 victory. Match five was highlighted by a 221 by Reale while Passaniti added a 181. Captain LuAnna Lasso (184) led the charge against Coppin State University in game six, as Adelphi managed a, 903-647 win. Molenko (168), Gina Lella (136), Ferraro (214), and Reale (201) All rolled strong games. Adelphi returns to action on February 9 when they travel to Dover, Delaware to compete in the Delaware State Capital Classic. |
