Hamden, CT - On Monday, January 21 the Panthers traveled to Hamden, Connecticut to conclude play in the Northeast Women's Collegiate Bowling Conference (NEWCBC). The Panthers picked up a win over #17 St. Francis, but dropped their other four matches, falling to 36-46 overall. The day started of well for the Panthers as they faced #17 St. Francis College. Adelphi topped the Terriers, 862-846 on the strength of a 202 by Kristin Hayes and a 181 by Jennifer Ferraro. The second game saw Danielle Locurto (228), Heather McGee (199), and Hayes (176) throw strong games but #19 St. Peter's College dispatched the Panthers 881-944. #5 Fairleigh Dickinson moved past Adelphi, 858-1001, despite a 190 pin effort from Locurto. Game four against #6 NJCU was highlighted by the efforts of Hayes (201), Dianna Molenko (185), and Locurto (176). But it was not enough as Adelphi fell, 854-939. #8 Sacred Heart University picked up a, 761-858 win over the Panthers in the final match of the day. Hayes led all competitors in the NEWCBC regular season singles competition with a total pin fall of 1204 pins over six games to average 200.67. On the strength of her performance, Hayes will receive a 120 pin head start as she and her fellow teammates battle for the singles crown on March 29, 2008 in Elmwood Park, New Jersey The Panthers return to competition on Saturday, January 26 when they travel to Laurel, Maryland to compete in the Bowie State University Invitational. |
