Bowling Opens 2008 at the St. Francis College New Year's Knockdown

 
 

 
Bowling returns to action on January 13.

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Adelphi University bowling team traveled to Staten Island, New York to open up 2008 at the St. Francis College New Year Knockdown. On day one of the two day event the Panthers faced five opponents, posing a record of 1-4, which ran Adelphi's overall record to 31-36.

The Panthers started the day against conference rival #17 St. Francis College. The Terriers shot well enough to out pace Adelphi 876-909. In game two, Hampton University battled neck and neck with the Panthers, but a strong tenth frame allowed meant victory for the Pirates 883-886. The Golden Bears of Kutztown downed Adelphi, 878-892 in game three, while The Panthers rebounded to defeat Cheyney State University 992-434 the fourth game of the day. Game five saw Adelphi and Hampton match up for the second time that day, with the result the same, a Hampton win (921-931).

Adelphi's victory over Cheyney State was the largest margin of victory in team history. Despite a record of 1-4 the Panthers finished day one of competition in first place in total pinfall.

Adelphi will return to action on Sunday, January 13 when they return to Staten Island, New York for day two of the St. Francis College New Year's Knockdown.
