Adelphi Women Earn ECAC Bid

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team earned the #3 seed in the 2007 ECAC Division II Women's Basketball Tournament this upcoming weekend. The two-day tournament starts this Friday, March 9, and will be hosted by top seed Philadelphia University.

The first-round match-ups will feature Philadelphia University hosting #4 Molloy College at 5:00 p.m., followed by #2 Dominican College meeting Adelphi at 7:00 p.m. The title game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, March 10, at Philadelphia University.

Adelphi ended the regular season with a 16-13 overall record after advancing to the semi-finals of the ECC Tournament. This marks the first ECAC appearance for the Panthers since 2002-03 and fourth overall. Adelphi has never won an ECAC title.

For Philadelphia University, which enters the tournament with a 20-9 mark overall, it marks the 16th straight season with a postseason bid. Dominican College, also a member of the CACC, enters the tournament with a 19-9 overall record while Molloy College, ended the regular season at 15-13 overall.
