Garden City, N.Y. - On Saturday, March 1, the Adelphi men and women's basketball teams will host what could be the last ever games played in historic Woodruff Hall. The games will be captured live in a webcast provided by CSTV. This marks the final season ever for the Panthers to play in the landmark gymnasium before moving to their new home in the Recreation and Sports Complex.

Adelphi will host cross-town rival, C.W. Post in its final regular season game. The women will compete first at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Go to www.ncaaports.com/dii to see the game. The teams are expecting a sell out crowd, so get there early and show your school spirit by wearing Adelphi apparel.

In addition to the doubleheader, alumni day will take place earlier in the day beginning at 1:00 p.m. for the women and 3:00 p.m. for the men.

The Panthers could still host post-season play in the first-round of the East Coast Conference Tournament with the men (16-9, 12-6) currently in second place in the league. The women (13-12, 11-7) are tied for fourth with the University of Bridgeport.

Woodruff Hall was built in 1929 as a recreational facility for the then all-women's institution. The 400 seat gym features an oval track above. In 2005, the NCAA even highlighted the historic building in a feature story about unique arenas. Following the end of the season, the building will close in anticipation of a extensive renovation which will include new classrooms and office space.

The new athletic complex will feature three-courts with capacity for 2,200, which will allow Adelphi to host conference and post-season events. For here for more information on the campaign for Adelphi University.
