Adelphi Names Klocke As Interim Head Coach

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University has named Will Klocke as the interim head men's and women's tennis coach as announced by Director of Athletics Robert Hartwell. Klocke replaces former head coach York Chu.

A former tennis standout at Adelphi, Klocke played tennis from 2001-2003 and helped guide the Panthers to their first ever NCAA tournament birth in 2003.

A transfer from Fordham University, Klocke played #1 Singles and # 1 Doubles for Division I Fordham and also served as captain of the Men's Tennis team as well as the Men's Squash team. As one of his first responsibilities as the new coach at Adelphi, Klocke attend the 19th annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Coaches Convention at Doral Gold Resort and Spa in Miami, December 12-15. Nearly 300 men's and women's college tennis coaches at all levels gathered for the four-day convention.

In addition to offering clinics, panel discussion, a trade show and a chance to exchange ideas, the ITA Coaches Convention serves as the venue for the annual association meeting, which includes its Board of Director and Operating Committee sessions.

Klocke, a resident of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., obtained a bachelor's in communications from Adelphi in 2002, and a master's degree in sports management in 2003.
