Orlando, FL - With slight changes to the line-up, Ed Canner and the Men's Tennis squad pick up their first win of the 2009 spring break tour of Florida against the Eagles of Wisconsin La Crosse. With the 5-4 win, the Brown and Gold moves to 2-1 on the season. Highlighting the match was the win was Adelphi's performance in the singles match-ups, with four of the six decisions coming by way of the Brown and Gold. Sebastian Nieves moved into penthouse singles and was able to post a 6-1, 6-0 victory over the Eagles' Joey Van Lieshout.With the win, Nieves extends his win streak to three games. Also seeing wins for the Panthers were Tomasz Walczak in third singles (6-0, 6-0), Alex Molotsky in fourth singles (6-3, 6-2) and Anton Voynov in fifth singles (6-2, 6-1). The Brown and Gold was only able to get in front in one doubles match against La Crosse and that came by way of Nieves and Voynov in second singles (8-2) The Panthers will return to action when they go up against Knox College set to begin at 6:30 p.m. |
