Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi spoiled Fordham's home opener by winning four of the six singles matches and sweeping the doubles matches to top the Rams 5-2. It was Adelphi's first win over a Division I opponent in seven years. The Panthers then won their home opener by topping New Jersey Tech by the score of 5-2. Adelphi opened the contest by winning the doubles point, winning all three of the doubles matches. Abhijeet Muzumdar and Faheen Romi won at first doubles (8-7) over Mike Rosado and Perry Tsao while Greg Fujii and Manuel Castro took second doubles from Peter Zipf and Mike Misiti (8-4) and Mike Stansfield and Rahil Sayed won at third doubles for Adelphi, defeating Phil Bednarczyk and Ben Ehrman, 8-4. Muzumdar, Romi, Castro and Sayed also won their singles matches. It took Muzumdar three sets to dispatch Rosado, 4-6, 6-3 and 11-9. While Sayed and Romi each won their matches in two sets. Against New Jersey Tech the Panthers won two out of three doubles matches. Muzumdar and Romi won their first flight singles match, 8-3. Teammates Fujii and Castro also won their doubles match by the score of 8-3. In singles competition Fujii, Castro and Sayed all dispatched their opponents in two sets to give Adelphi the win. The Panthers improved to 2-0 with the two victories and return to action Wednesday, March 17th when they open conference play by hosting Concordia at 3:00 pm.
