Garden City, N.Y. - For the 11th time in 12 years, both the men and women's soccer programs have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) for its team academic excellence. A total of 373 NCAA and NAIA soccer programs (109 men, 264 women) posted a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the Team Academic Award for 2007-08. Of the more than 1,000 Division I, II, III and NAIA schools just 65 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized. The men's team posted a gpa of 3.33, which put Adelphi near the top of the list as just 14 men's programs managed a gpa of 3.30 or higher. The Panthers have earned the team academic award every year since 2002. The women, who posted a team gpa of 3.42, have been honored by the NSCAA every year since 2002 as well. The men finished the 2008 season with a record of 12-6 overall, capturing the ASC regular season title (4-0) and advancing to the conference title game. The women closed out the fall with a mark of 14-4-1 and ended their season in the conference semifinals. |
