Nov. 21, 2002 Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior midfielder Anders Salomonsson, junior defender Gary Sullivan and freshman forward Padraig Drew each earned Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) honors as announced Tuesday afternoon. Sullivan was named first-team all-conference, while Drew picked up second-team honors. Florida International University senior Matias Asorey was named the ASC Player of the Year, his second straight, after leading the ASC in scoring with 29 points in 18 games including a league-high 13 goals. Sullivan, named to the second-team in 2001,started in all 18 games this season and ranked sixth on the team in scoring with three goals for six points. Drew, also a starter, finished the season third on the team in scoring with two goals and a team-leading five assists. Salomonsson, fourth on the team in scoring this year (two goals, three assists) appeared in 51 games, making 50 starts in his Adelphi career with 17 career points (six goals, five assists). Florida International Heach Coach Karl Kremser was named ASC Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Panthers to the ASC title and an automatic berth in teh NCAA Division I Tournament. His team finished 12-5-1 overall and will host Central Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Adelphi (5-12-1, 3-2 ASC) finished the 2002 season fourth in the ASC. |
